Poly(lactic acid)-Based Blends: A Comprehensive Review

Aliphatic and aromatic polyesters of hydroxycarboxylic acids are characterized not only by biodegradability, but also biocompatibility inertness, which makes them suitable for use in different applications. Polyesters with high enzymatic hydrolysis capacity include poly(lactic acid), poly(ε-caprolactone), poly(butylene succinate) adipate-co-terephthalate), succinate-co-adipate). At the same time, acid) is most durable, widespread, cheap polyester from this series. However, it has a number drawbacks, such as brittleness, narrow temperature-viscosity processing range, limited biodegradability. Three main approaches known modification: incorporation dispersed particles or low molecular weight oligomeric substances, copolymerization other polymers, blending polymers.
